Women's Dirndl Blouse — Body Measurements

At eLederhosen, our Dirndl Blouses (Dirndlblusen) are sized to match our dirndl range exactly — so if you know your dirndl size, you know your blouse size. Every blouse is crafted in the authentic Bavarian Trachten tradition to sit perfectly beneath your Mieder bodice.

Important — How a Dirndl Blouse Should Fit

The Dirndlbluse is designed to fit close to the body — not loose or billowy. The bust and shoulders are the primary fit points; the blouse hem tucks beneath the Mieder and is not visible when the dirndl is worn correctly.

Order by your actual bust measurement in centimetres. If you fall between two sizes, order the smaller size — a fitted blouse looks authentic; a loose blouse reads as costume. The neckline should sit neatly above the dirndl's Mieder neckline without bunching.

Bust, Waist, and Shoulder Measurements

Use a soft measuring tape, wear the bra you typically wear with Trachten, and stand relaxed while measuring.

  1. Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level and parallel to the floor. This is the primary measurement for blouse sizing — snug but not compressed.
  2. Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your waist — typically just above your belly button. Relevant for longer Trachten blouses worn as standalone tops; less critical for short Dirndlblusen hidden beneath the Mieder.
  3. Shoulder width: Measure across the back from shoulder bone to shoulder bone. Ensures the sleeve seam sits at the correct point and the neckline frames properly above your dirndl.
Sleeve Length

Sleeve length does not affect your body size — choose your German size by bust, then select the sleeve length by occasion:

  • Short puff sleeve (Kurzarm) — The classic Oktoberfest and summer Wiesn sleeve. Ends at the upper arm, allowing free movement and staying cool in warm festival tents.
  • Three-quarter sleeve (Dreiviertelarm) — The most versatile length for all-occasion Trachten wear. Suitable for Oktoberfest, weddings, and cooler evenings.
  • Long sleeve (Langarm) — For winter Trachten, formal occasions, and traditional Trachtenverein events. Full coverage to the wrist with optional cuff detail.
Measuring Tips
  • Measure in centimetres. cm gives more precise sizing than inches and matches our charts directly.
  • Wear the right bra. Measure with the bra you plan to wear under your dirndl — cup size and lift affect the bust measurement.
  • Stand relaxed and breathe normally. Don't compress your chest — measure your real body.
  • Get a second opinion if possible. Self-measuring bust can be awkward; having someone help improves accuracy.
  • Same size as your dirndl. If you already know your dirndl German size, order the same size in the blouse — the measurements are identical across our range.
Dirndl Blouse Size Chart

All measurements are body measurements in centimetres. If you are between two sizes, order the smaller size for the authentic fitted Trachten silhouette.
