Kids' Lederhosen Size Chart — Body Measurements

All measurements are body measurements in centimetres. This chart applies to our complete kids' Lederhosen range — Kurze Lederhosen (short), Kniebundhosen (knee-length), and Bundhosen (long). German children's sizing is based on body height in centimetres (e.g. size 116 = a child 116 cm tall). If your child is between two sizes, read the fit note below before ordering.

Kids' Lederhosen fit note: Children grow quickly. If your child is between two sizes, order the larger size — authentic leather stretches and moulds to the body over time, and the adjustable braces (Hosenträger) allow significant waist adjustment. A slightly larger pair worn now will fit better than a tight pair within weeks.
One sizing system for kids' Trachten: The same German body-height size applies to our kids' Lederhosen, Trachten shirts, and matching braces. Measure once, order the complete outfit at the same size.
How to Measure Your Child

Take measurements over light undergarments. Use a soft tape measure and keep it level around the body. Stand the child upright against a wall for height. Re-measure shortly before ordering — children's measurements can change significantly within a few months.

  • Height: Measure from the top of the head to the floor with your child standing straight, shoes off. This is the primary size determinant.
  • Waist: Measure around the natural waistline — just above the navel and the narrowest part of the torso. Lederhosen sit at or just below the natural waist.
  • Hip: Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat. Essential for the seat and thigh fit of the lederhosen.
  • Chest: Measure around the fullest part of the chest. Used to size the brace length and cross-back straps.
  • Stride / Inseam: Measure from the crotch seam straight down to the floor. Determines the correct lederhosen length style — short, knee-length, or long.

Choosing the Right Kids' Lederhosen Size
  • Primary rule: Use body height as your starting point. German Kindergrößen are defined by height — a child 128 cm tall takes size 128, regardless of age.
  • If between heights: Order the larger size. Genuine leather moulds to the body over time and the braces are fully adjustable to compensate.
  • Slim build: If waist and hip measurements fall in a smaller size than height, still order by height — the brace adjustment and leather stretch will compensate for a slimmer frame.
  • Sturdy build: If hip or waist measurements exceed the row for your child's height, order the next size up by height.
  • Length style guide: Short Lederhosen (Kurze) suit sizes 68–116; knee-length (Kniebund) suit sizes 104–152; long Bundhosen suit sizes 128 and above.
  • Above 176 cm: For older teens above 176 cm, please see our men's Lederhosen collection — German men's size 44 typically fits teens between 172–178 cm tall.
