Men's Lederhosen Size Chart — Body Measurements

This sizing chart applies to our complete men's leather trouser range — Short Lederhosen (Kurze Lederhose), Bundhosen (Kniebundhose, with buckled knee cuff), and Long Pants Lederhosen (Lange Lederhose). All body measurements are in centimetres. If you are between two sizes, read the leather fit note below before ordering.

Leather fit note: Authentic Bavarian lederhosen are designed to fit close to the body — the leather should feel snug on day one. Quality leather softens and molds to your shape with wear, relaxing approximately one half-size within the first few wears. If you are between two sizes, order the Larger size for the authentic fitted Trachten silhouette. The traditional Zugband (back lacing) provides 2–3 cm of additional waist adjustability for fine-tuning.
One size system across our men's leather trouser range: If you know your German size in Short Lederhosen, you know your Bundhosen and Long Pants Lederhosen size — body measurements are consistent across all three styles. Only the garment length varies.
How to Measure

Wear normal undergarments while measuring. Use a soft tape measure and check that the tape sits level around your body. Stand naturally — don't tense your waist or hold your breath.

  • Waist: Measure around your natural waistline a few centimetres below the navel — where lederhosen sit on the body. Tape snug but not tight.
  • Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your seat, typically across the hip bones. Tape comfortably snug.
  • Thigh: Measure around the fullest part of your thigh, approximately 8 cm below the crotch. Tape straight, not twisted.
  • Knee: Identify the knee position to confirm your Short Lederhosen or Bundhosen will sit at the correct point. Measure circumference 8 cm below the hollow of the knee for knee cuff fit.
  • Inseam: For long pants Lederhosen, measure the inner leg from crotch to desired hem at the ankle.

Length by Garment Style

The body measurements above (waist, hip, thigh, knee cuff) are identical across all three garment types. Only the Length measurement varies by style.

  • Short Lederhosen (Kurze Lederhose): Length as shown in the chart above — knee-length silhouette measured from waist to hem, ending just below the kneecap. The traditional Oktoberfest and Wiesn cut.
  • Bundhosen (Kniebundhose): Same body measurements as Short Lederhosen, with the length extended by 2–3 cm to accommodate the buckled knee cuff (Kniebundverschluss) that closes just below the knee. The Bundhose is the more formal Trachten silhouette suited to Trachtenverein evenings and ceremonial occasions.
  • Long Pants Lederhosen (Lange Lederhose): Same body measurements as Short Lederhosen, with the length extending to the ankle. Long Pants Lederhosen are sized by inseam — choose your German size by waist and hip first, and the inseam will be proportional to your size. For specific inseam confirmation before ordering, contact our team.
Trachten Fit Features
  • Zugband (back lacing): Traditional Bavarian lederhosen include an adjustable laced back closure providing 2–3 cm of waist adjustability. This allows fine-tuning the fit for comfort and seasonal changes.
  • Hosenträger (suspenders): Most traditional lederhosen are designed to be worn with H-bar or X-bar suspenders. Suspenders are sized separately and adjustable up to ~105 cm length.
  • Leather break-in: Quality goat suede, deerskin, and cowhide all soften and shape to the wearer within the first 3–5 wears. Day-one snugness is correct and expected.
