Men's Trachten Shirt Size Chart — Body Measurements

Sizing for our authentic Bavarian Trachtenhemd — the traditional collared shirt worn tucked into your Lederhosen or as a stand-alone Bavarian shirt. Uses the same German Konfektionsgröße system as our Trachten vest and jacket, plus collar (Kragenweite) sizing for shirt-specific fit. All measurements in centimetres unless noted.

Trachten shirt fit note: Two measurements matter for shirts. Your chest circumference determines your primary size. Your collar circumference confirms it — the collar should close comfortably with one finger of ease. Trachten shirts run looser than a formal dress shirt — designed for movement, traditional bloused appearance, and tucking into Lederhosen. If between two sizes, order the smaller size.
One size system across men's Trachten uppers: Your shirt size = your vest size = your jacket size. All men's Trachten upper-body garments share the same German Konfektionsgröße number when sized by chest measurement.
How to Measure

Wear a thin undershirt only, or measure over bare skin. Stand naturally with arms relaxed at your sides. Use a soft measuring tape.

  • Collar / Neck: Wrap the tape around the base of your neck, just below your Adam's apple. Keep snug but not tight — you should be able to slide one finger underneath. Add 1 cm for your ideal collar size.
  • Chest: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest, just under your armpits and across your shoulder blades. Keep level and snug. This is your primary size number.
  • Sleeve Length: With arm slightly bent, measure from the top of your shoulder (where the shoulder seam sits) down the outside of your arm to your wrist bone.

Fit Rules & Style Notes
  • Chest vs collar conflict: If your chest and collar measurements fall in different size rows, follow your chest measurement. Collar tolerance is ±1 cm and Trachten collars have inherent ease. If your neck runs significantly larger, size up one German size.
  • Chest fit: Should close at the buttons without pulling. About 15–20 cm of ease is normal for traditional Trachten shirts (formal shirts have only 5–10 cm).
  • Collar fit: Button the top button — you should be able to slide one finger inside comfortably. If tight, size up.
  • Sleeve length: Cuff should end at the base of your thumb when arms are relaxed. When wearing a Trachten jacket, ~1 cm of shirt cuff should show beyond the jacket cuff.
  • Regular fit vs Slim fit: Regular fit (traditional) is the most common Trachten cut — relaxed body and generous armhole. Slim fit / Perfect Fit runs closer to the body; if your usual size feels roomy, order one size down in slim fit.
  • Shirt size = Vest size = Jacket size for most men. See our Trachten Vest & Jacket Size Chart for upper-body coordination.
Quick Conversion Reference
  • German size = chest (inches) + 10. Example: 40" chest → German 50.
  • Collar (cm) → US inches: divide cm by 2.54. Example: 40 cm = 15¾".
  • Collar size = German size ÷ 2 + 15. Example: German 50 → collar 40 cm.
  • Italian / French / EU sizes match German Konfektionsgröße for shirts.
