Named for Oberstdorf — Germany's southernmost Alpine market town, set deep in the Allgäu among high-mountain meadows where edelweiss grows wild — this Kniebundhose is the traditional knee-length counterpart to our short-style lederhosen, carrying the same rich, full-color embroidery in a longer, more formal cut.
Crafted from genuine black goat suede, the bib and front legs are hand-embroidered with detailed stag heads, pine branches, and edelweiss blossoms — Bavaria's iconic Alpine flower — worked in green, gold, cream, and brown thread. Brass grommets at the waist pair with a separate belt, while each knee finishes with the traditional lace-tie closure that defines the Kniebundhose silhouette — a style historically favored for its more formal, tailored presence at festivals and folk events.
This is a more premium embellishment than a costume-store print, and it shows: every thread is placed by hand, not heat-transferred. Pair it with knee socks (Loferl) and a traditional shirt for an authentic, head-to-toe Bavarian look.
